Met office forecasts rainfall for Karachi, other areas

KARACHI: Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rainfall at isolated places in Karachi and other parts of the country.

The met office in its forecast said the port city is likely to receive rain today after days of sunny skies which tormented citizens after heavy rainfall earlier this week. The temperature is expected to climb to a maximum of 34 degree Celsius during the day whereas the minimum temperature will remain at 28 Celsius.

The Met office said that strong monsoon currents will start to penetrate eastern parts of the country from today evening/night and added a westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist during next few days.

It said that rainfall with thunderstorm and gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Kashmir, Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sarghoda, Faisalabad), Islamabad, Hazara, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, FATA, D.G Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Karachi, Sibbi, Zhob, Nasirabad, and Gilgit Baltistan within next 24 hours.

The Met office said that yesterday Sialkot received 44 millimeter of rain, whereas Muree 09, Rawalpindi 01, Balakot 17, D.I Khan 13, Drosh 03 and Abbotabad 01 mm. Whereas Kahsmir’s Garhidupatta received 14 millimeter of rainfall, Muzaffarabad 11 and Sindh’s Tharparkar received 04 mm.

The highest temperature in the country was recorded in Dalbandin and Sibbi at 44 Celsius degree, while Turbat and Dadu experienced 43 degree Centigrade.
