Minister of State Murad Saeed lashes at previous PML-N govt

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State Murad Saeed on Tuesday strongly rebuked the former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government during a National Assembly session.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader asserted that corrupt and money laundering was rife during the tenure of the previous government and they had the audacity to criticise them.

He said that PIA was facing exorbitant losses but rather than rectifying them, the government sent a fugitive aboard a national airline, referring to former finance minister Ishaq Dar.

He said that they are not afraid to name convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav who are apprehended in Pakistan, but instead former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was hosting Indian businessman Sajan Jindal and exchanging gifts with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He questioned whether an audit was conducted of the Rs450 billion given to independent power plants (IPPs). He decried that circular debts reached a staggering Rs1152 bn, while power shortfall increases to over 7000MW compared to the 5200MW during the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) goverment in 2013.

“In every institution they didn’t bring a competent person, but rather their own person,” he decried, referring to a Nadra officer who was threatened and forced to leave the country merely for doing his job.

Furthermore, he said the previous government spend over Rs200 million on luxury cars and Rs2.4 billion on dogs, while over seven billion were spent on their personal residences.

He said it is his resposibility to unmask such activities of the previous government even if it does not go down well with the PML-N.
