Mir Raza Ali case: Court directs police to submit report by Sept 7

KARACHI: A hearing of the Mir Raza Ali murder case was held before the Judicial Magistrate East, where the investigating officer, Siraj, and lawyers representing Mir Raza’s family appeared before the court.

Ali, a 25-year-old businessman and a graduate of the Institute of Business Administration, was found dead with a gunshot wound on July 29 in bushes in Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Jauhar a day after he was reported missing.

During the hearing, the investigating officer sought additional time to submit the investigation report. The court accepted the request and directed him to submit the report by September 7.

The complainant’s lawyer asked the investigating officer to inform the court about the progress made in the investigation so far.

In response, the investigating officer said that the forensic reports of the mobile phone and other items were still awaited.

The investigation into the murder of Mir Raza Ali has gained fresh momentum, with investigators securing a mobile SIM registered in his name, sources said.

According to sources, the SIM was issued by the mobile phone operator following a request from the police. The ownership of the SIM was subsequently transferred to Mir Raza Ali’s mother after completion of the required biometric verification and documentation formalities.

Investigators are now expected to use the SIM to gain access to Mir Raza Ali’s WhatsApp account and retrieve its backed-up data. The move is aimed at obtaining potentially crucial information that could help investigators establish important leads and advance the probe.

Sources said data recovered from the WhatsApp account could prove significant in determining key details surrounding the case and may assist investigators in uncovering further evidence.
