Mir Raza case: Jibran Nasir questions judicial commission before police report

KARACHI: Lawyer Jibran Nasir has questioned the Sindh government’s decision to form a judicial commission in the Mir Raza Ali murder case without taking the victim’s family into confidence, ARY News reported.

Jibran Nasir said the terms of reference (ToRs) of the judicial commission have still not been made public.

He questioned why other law enforcement agencies were not included in the investigation and why a joint investigation team (JIT) was not formed in the Mir Raza case.

The lawyer also questioned why the alleged criminal role of police officers was not investigated.

Jibran Nasir said the police investigation report was scheduled to be presented before the magistrate tomorrow.

He questioned why the Sindh government announced the judicial commission before the police investigation report was presented.

Jibran Nasir also asked whether the Sindh government was already aware of the possible findings of the police investigation and whether it disagreed with the results of the police report.

He said Mir Raza’s family would approach the High Court tomorrow.

According to Jibran Nasir, the family will seek formation of a JIT in the High Court and will oppose the formation of the judicial commission.

The family of Mir Raza Ali has opposed the Sindh government’s decision to form a judicial commission to investigate his murder.

“We will pursue a JIT,” the family said.

The family said it had already made it clear that it did not want a judicial commission.

The family members said they would file a petition in the Sindh High Court tomorrow seeking the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT).
