SRINAGAR: The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, strongly denounced the directive of Indian government barring students of the occupied territory from taking admission in educational institutions of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq termed the directive as unfortunate said that it had put the career of those studying in AJK in jeopardy and uncertainty.
The Mirwaiz said Kashmiri students like students worldwide have every right to study anywhere they choose and barring them from seeking admission in educational institutions of Azad Jammu and Kashmir – which is part of entire Jammu and Kashmir of which they are state subjects – makes no sense, KMS reported.
He said after suspension of trade across the Line of Control that has greatly affected the traders and those associated with it and the economy, this is another regressive move adversely affecting the students of the occupied territory this time.
The Hurriyat leader urged those in power not to play politics with the career of Kashmiri students and take back this unreasonable diktat.
