Mustafa Kamal

Mustafa Kamal is founder and current leader of Pak Sarzameen Party, and was previously affiliated withMuttahidaQaumi Movement (MQM).

Born in Karachi on the December 27, 1971, Kamal completed his Intermediate undertook an Associate Diploma in Business Executive Studies in Malaysia. He received an MBA in Marketing from the University of Wales (UK), while studying in Malaysia.

Mustafa Kamal is best known for having served as the Mayor (Nazim) of the Karachi where he worked hard and was popular among the people other city. He was shortlisted for the World Mayor Prize in 2010.

He served as the IT Minister for the Sindh province from 2003 to 2005. In 2013, he was elected to the Senate from Sindh, but abruptly left Pakistan after developing differences with MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

MQM announced that Kamal submitted his resignation from Senate and left the country due to personal and family reasons.  He worked as consultant for the real estate firm Bahria Town construction’s business from Dubai.

Kamal returned to Karachi on March 3, 2016, accompanied by AnisQaimkhani and held a press conference vehemently criticising MQM and its leader Altaf Hussain, who he claimed has links with the Indian spy agency.

Kamal opened up about his lifelong personal experiences as a prominent member of MQM and what made him leave the country, and discussed several controversies surrounding MQM and Altaf Hussain’s behavior towards the party members.

He also announced his new political entity without revealing the new name of the party.  Later the party was joined by former MQM members Raza Haroon, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, Waseem Aftab, Anees Khan Advocate, IftikharAlam and many other parliamentarians.

On Mach 23, Kamal disclosed the vision of a new party he was laying foundations of, but the name not decided yet, and He also revealed that the national flag of Pakistan would be the party flag. Later Mustafa Kamal announced the name of party as Pak Sarzameen party.

PSP has received popularity and has seen many defections from the MQM as it seeks to appeal to Muhajir community in Karachi. However, the elections will reveal whether it can snatch the mandate fromthe MQM.
