My son has sent Imran notice of Rs5 bn fine: Dar

The federal minister’s son has sent Khan legal notice for defaming his father with allegations of having involvement in corruption, in spite of National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s clearance.

He expressed happiness over getting clearance from NAB. “Some unknown people had filed case against me, therefore, it had no value,” he said.

Dar said Imran Khan had the right to protest over his acquittal, but decisions in courts are taken on the basis of evidences and arguments.

He said census was last held during Pakistan Muslim League-N’s tenure and again will be held under the PML-N government.

The finance minister said the government was committed to conduct population and housing census in the country as early as possible.

“Rs14 billion will be spent on the census besides funds provided by United Nations Population Fund for conducting the survey,” he said.

Ishaq Dar said that to held the censuses, resources were allocated but the necessary army strength required for the task could not be made available on the proposed dates due to its commitments in the Zarb-e-Azb operation.

He said that Pakistan’s economic indicators were moving in the positive direction and foreign exchange reserves had substantially increased.

Dar said performance of the stock exchange had shown considerable improvement and emerged as the best market of the region.

He said foreign remittances had increased from $13.9 billion to $19.9 billion during last three years.

Ishaq Dar said foreign exchange reserves had crossed $23 billion mark.
