Mysticism and spirituality at shrine of Data Ganj Baksh in Lahore

LAHORE: The 973rd Urs of Sufi saint Syed Ali bin Osman Al-Hajvery, popularly known as Data Ganj Bakhsh, began in Lahore on Saturday.
The three-day event was inaugurated by Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar who laid a sheet and flowers at the grave of the saint. Thousands of devotees have arrived from across the country to pay their respects.
Data Ganj Bakhsh was a Persian Sufi and scholar during the 11th century. He was born in Ghazni, Afghanistan in 990 AD during the Ghaznavid Empire and settled and died in Lahore spreading Islam in South Asia.
