NA-120 by-polls: Shahbaz orders inquiry after firing outside PPP, PTI election offices

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has ordered an inquiry after unidentified gunmen resorted to aerial firing outside Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) election offices amid the election campaign for upcoming NA-120 by-polls, ARY News reported on Sunday.

According to details, some unidentified armed men resorted to aerial firing outside the parties’ election offices ahead of the all important NA-120 by-polls. Police soon reached the place after the firing but the armed men managed to escape.

PPP and PTI are terming it an attempt to harass the rival parties by the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), however, CM Punjab has CCPO Punjab to submit a report and arrest the culprits as soon as possible.

The happening an effort by the verdict Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to bother the opponent parties, PTI’s candidate for the upcoming by-election in NA-120, Dr Yasmeen Rashid in a statement said that Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan should make sure that no such incident is frequent in future or else the other parties would have to get ready themselves to take action in kind to such attacks.

The NA-120 seat fell vacant after PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif stepped down as Prime Minister following historic Supreme Court verdict on Panama leaks.

The by-polls are due to be held on September 17.
