LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday arrested former PML-N MPA and former head of Lahore Parking Company (LPC) Hafiz Mian Noman after Lahore High Court dismissed his interim bail plea.
A division bench of the high court headed by Justice Muhammad Tariq heard the bail petition of Hafiz Noman.
The NAB lawyer argued before the bench about irregularities in contracts of the parking company adding that the bureau has initiated inquiry in the matter. He informed the bench that the anti-graft body has issued arrest warrant of Hafiz Noman because he was the head of the company.
The counsel pleaded to the court to dismiss the bail plea of the accused so as the NAB could arrest him for investigation.
Hafiz Noman’s lawyer while arguing in the court said that his client was offered an honorary position of Lahore Parking Company’s chairman. He said his client never withdrew a single rupee from the company’s funds. All contracts of the company were awarded according to the rules and called corruption charges against his client as wrong. He said his client has extended complete cooperation to NAB investigation and pleaded for confirmation of the bail petition.
The court after hearing arguments of the two sides dismissed the bail request.
The NAB officials after the court decision arrested Hafiz Noman from the court premises.
