LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau has decided to approach Interpol to bring back former finance minister Ishaq Dar and the sons of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif,  Hussain and Hasan Nawaz, to the country to face corruption cases.

Well-informed sources reveal NAB will request the interior ministry to initiate the process of issuing red warrants against the trio who are facing corruption references and are involved in multiple pending cases. The decision was reportedly taken in a meeting chaired by NAB chairman Justice retired Javed Iqbal.

Hussain and Hasan Nawaz have already been declared proclaimed offenders in the Avenfield reference case. Both are currently in London alongside their mother Begum Kulsoom Nawaz who is in frail health and has been placed on ventilator.

Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and her spouse captain retired Safdar, are currently facing the ongoing cases and a verdict is expected soon. They have also been granted exemption from court proceedings and are also present in London.

Dar also faces several cases including possessing assets beyond known sources of income, and left for London last year on the pretext of medical treatment and has not returned ever since.

NAB will also take similar action against Ali Imran, son-in-law of former Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is also facing corruption case. Ali Imran left for London in April after he was summoned in the Saaf Pani Company case for alleged embezzlement and illegal assets.

It has also been decided to place the name of former principal secretary Fawad Hasan Fawad on the Exit Control. He faced several inquiries and has skipped several NAB summons. Fawad was transferred after caretaker Prime Minister Justice retired Nasir-ul-Mulk took over and is currently serving as Director-General Civil Service Academy in Lahore.

Former secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Punjab Ali Jan and former secretary Najam Ahmed Shah will also be placed on the ECL. Director-General NAB Operations has been tasked to write to the interior ministry to initiate proceedings against the accused.
