NAB recovers Rs330 mln from ex-govt official in Lahore  

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday recovered  Rs330 million from the residence of a retired government official in Lahore.

 According to the details, NAB officials, on a tip-off, conducted the raid on the residence of a former grade-16 official in EME society area of Lahore and recovered over Rs300 million.

NAB officials said they conducted the raid on a report that the ex-government official possessed assists beyond known sources of income.

The officials said that NAB recovered Rs100 million cash, prize bonds worth Rs170 million and foreign currency  worth Rs30 million.

NAB  did not disclose the identity of the suspect adding that they were seeking more assets details of the retired government official.

It is pertinent to mention here that NAB officials, on May 7, 20106,had raided the house of Raisani and recovered bundles of notes in local and foreign currency worth Rs 63 crore. The bundles of notes – from Pakistani rupee to US dollar – were stashed in large bags, cardboard and plastic boxes.

The corruption treasure also included prize bonds and a fairly large quantity of gold. The amount recovered was so huge that the officials had to bring in counting machines after they became tired of counting the currency notes by hand.

NAB had apprehended Mushtaq Raisani during a raid at Finance Department offices. Raisani was accused of embezzlement worth billions of rupees and misuse of authority.
