Astronauts at the International Space Station saw their wish come true after they got a private screening of the new Star Wars movie earlier this week.
Disney sent “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” into space using an uplink at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, according to a NASA press release. The company did the same for “The Force Awakens” two years ago.
Seeing the six-member team all snuggled up in their “bungee cord chairs”, drink bags in hand, the scientists watched the science fiction on a temporary screen-projector set above their heads. And what better place than to watch Star Wars than the space.
“Expedition 54 crew members … look forward to watching the science fiction saga at their leisure while they’re living and working aboard the orbiting laboratory that will enable human and robotic exploration of galaxies far, far away,” NASA said in its release.
Mark Vande Hei, a flight engineer for ISS expedition 54, tweeted a photo of his fellow crew members watching the film in “bungee cord chairs” and holding drink bags.
“Somewhere in the Star Wars galaxy there are likely plans to build a new rebel outpost,” the release said.
