LAHORE: Home Minister of Punjab Shaukat Jawed said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and daughter Maryam Nawaz will be arrested at Lahore airport tomorrow (July 13).
He further advised the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) supporters to remain peaceful and let authorities do their duty.
Jawed further stated that if the situation got out of hand the rangers shall intervene.
We are making necessary arrangements to assure that no loss suffered by the citizens and rightful action will be taken against any individual who will try to create the law and order problem, said the minister.
Nawaz along with his daughter Maryam will land in Lahore on Friday (tomorrow) and the authorities have decided to take the convicts straight to Adyala jail from the airport through a helicopter.
A 16 officers’ team formed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will see through the process. The team headed by director NAB Amjad Ali, comprises of nine officers of NAB and seven police officers.
Accountability court on July 6, handed Nawaz Sharif 10 years jail term for owning assets beyond his means and one year for not cooperating with NAB in the Avenfield properties corruption reference.
His daughter Maryam Nawaz was given 7 years jail term for abetment, and her husband Captain (retd) Safdar was awarded one year for non-cooperation with the anti-graft authority.
Captain (retd) Safdar was arrested on Sunday, July 8 while Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif are due to return home on Friday (tomorrow).
