Nawaz warns perpetrators of heavy price as Maryam stands in the dock

ISLAMABAD: Deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lambasted furiously against those responsible for his daughter Maryam Nawaz’s standing in dock to record her statement in Avenfield case.

Talking to media in an angry tone outside the accountability court, Nawaz Sharif rebuked, without naming anyone, that a very indecent example being set and it will cost a heavy price to those who are behind setting up such examples that a daughter is standing in dock in front of her father.

Nawaz Sharif claimed that this case belongs to that era when Maryam Nawaz was not even a part of the politics. “She has nothing to do with this case, yet she is being dragged into it”, he crossly remarked.

Moreover, PML-N’s supreme leader also admired his way of dealing with crisis, during his tenure, with immense patience, strength and firmness. He referred to the resignations of Senator Mushahidullah Khan over a controversial interview and federal information minister Pervaiz Rasheed in Dawn leaks scandal and said “Their resignations were the result of my forbearance.”

While recalling his statement in the accountability court in which he claimed that an officer of intelligence agency who conveyed to him that he should resign or he would be sent on an extended leave, Nawaz remarked “I could have fired that officer but I didn’t for the sake of my country.”

Former prime minster stressed that facts should come to the forefront now. “There is a time for everything, and when the matters came before the court so I spoke about it” Nawaz added while urging everyone to stand up for the truth, if they want to witness democracy in its true spirit in Pakistan.
