Niall Horan reflected on core memories with his One D band mate, Liam Payne, through his new solo song.
The 32-year-old Irish singer-songwriter and musician dropped a new song titled End of an Era from the upcoming album Dinner Party on Friday, May 22. It was an homage to the late singer Payne, who passed away at the age of 31 in October 2024.
Horan sings in the first verse, “We had it, pure magic / Remember what it was like / Time passes so fast that / I couldn’t tell you goodbye.”
He continued and noted, “Careless times, yeah, we sure had some / Naïve eyes, yeah, we sure looked young / Tears fall like the future comes / Slowly, then all at once. Feels like letting go of / Things we’re not supposed to / One breath and it’s over / The end of an era,” the Best Song Ever hitmaker sings.
In March of this year, GQ Hype interviewed Horan, where he admitted that he channelled his grief of losing his great friend in End of an Era. He quipped, “There are memories that only he and I can share ‘cause you have a team and you have people around all the time. But we always said that only we have that experience, no one else has that.”
It is pertinent to mention that Liam Payne died after falling from a third-floor hotel balcony at the CasaSur Hotel in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16, 2024. Dinner Party is Niall Horan’s fourth studio album, which will be released on June 5.
