Nishwa’s death: Sindh Assembly resolution demands monitoring of doctors at hospitals

KARACHI: A resolution was presented in the Sindh Assembly on Monday, condemning death of nine-month-old Nishwa who died days after being administered a wrong injection by staff at the Dar-ul-Sehat Hospital, ARY News reported.

The resolution was submitted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf legislator Seema Zia. It condemned death of the toddler due to hospital staff’s negligence. The lawmaker demanded strict punishment for those responsible for the death of the minor girl.

The resolution said people lose their lives every now and then at hospitals due to medical staff negligence and no they mostly go scot-free, leaving a grieved family helpless.

She demanded monitoring of hospitals and doctors and called for devising a mechanism to ensure enforcement of this monitoring practice.

The PTI lawmaker said Sindh government officials must now fulfill their responsibilities.

“The steps, if any, taken by the Sindh Healthcare Commission should now be evident,” she said in the resolution.

After battling for her life for past eight days, Nishwa breathed her last on Monday morning at Liaquat National Hospital in Karachi.

The medical case of the minor girl came into light on April 14, when she was reportedly administered a wrong injection by the staff of Darul Sehat Hospital, which resulted the paralysis of Nishwa.

Father of the girl, Qaiser, alleged that her daughter, Nishwa, was paralysed due to a ‘wrong injection’ given to her by the ‘untrained nursing staff’ of Darul Sehat Hospital.

Qaiser said that he brought his twin daughters to the hospital for treatment of diarrhea. He added her daughters were injected three drips on different timings and the condition of one of his daughters, Nishwa, was worsened.
