No evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in Pathankot attack: Indian NIA chief

“There is no evidence to show that Pakistani government or its intelligence agencies were involved or helping any individual involved in the Pathankot attack,” said Sharad Kumar, DG NIA, in an interview.
He also ruled out any ‘inside job’ in the assault that soured ties between the nuclear-armed neighbors. “We are hopeful,” said the official when asked if Pakistan will allow NIA visit.
Meanwhile, Nafees Zakaria, spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “The statement of DG NIA vindicates Pakistan’s longstanding position in the context. Pakistan’s spirit of cooperation was manifested in the action it took in the wake of alleged incident.”

“Joint Investigation Team (JIT)’s visit was in this backdrop. The JIT is examining whatever information and intelligence has been shared by India during the visit,” Zakaria said adding that Pakistan believed in peaceful coexistence with countries in the region and beyond.
On January 2, this year, six militants had stormed Pathankot airbase in Indian Punjab, killing seven military personnel. Pakistan had also sent a team of investigators to India, in March, to probe the incident.
