Olivia Rodrigo announces new album: Release date, title, cover art revealed

Olivia Rodrigo has officially kicked off a new musical era, announcing her third studio album titled You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, set for release on June 12.

The Grammy-winning pop star revealed the news on April 2 via Instagram, sharing her excitement with fans.

“My third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is out June 12th,” Rodrigo wrote. “I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it. available for preorder now!”

Alongside the announcement, Rodrigo unveiled the album’s eye-catching cover art. The image features the singer upside down on a swing, smiling brightly against a soft pink backdrop, hinting at a more playful yet emotionally layered tone for the upcoming record.

The album reunites Rodrigo with longtime collaborator Daniel Nigro, who previously worked with her on her chart-topping debut Sour (2021) and its follow-up Guts (2023), both of which debuted at No. 1.

Speaking about the creative direction, Rodrigo described the project as a departure from her earlier work, explaining that it was “a creative challenge to write from a joyful place.”

“When you’re experiencing that you’re connected to someone, or feeling really good, you’re not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!” said the star, who was previously linked to British actor Louis Partridge.

Olivia Rodrigo first rose to global fame with her 2021 breakout hit “Drivers License.”
