IHC moved against removal of terrorism charges in Osama Satti murder case

ISLAMABAD: The heirs of Osama Satti, who was gunned down by five Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel in Islamabad, have challenged the ATC verdict of dropping terrorism charges in the case.
The lawyer of Satti family moved Islamabad High Court (IHC) to challenged the anti-terrorism court’s verdict of April 12. “ATC judge exceeded his jurisdiction in the case.”
The lawyer pleaded with the court to declare the ATC verdict null and void and order to continue the trial of the murder case in the ATC by giving reference of Fahad Malik’s case.
After summoning the response from the respondents, the IHC adjourned the hearing of the case until May 27.
On April 12, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) had dropped terrorism charges against five Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) personnel in the Osama Satti murder case.
Judge Shahrukh Arjumand had approved applications filed by the arrested accused against inclusion of terrorism charges in the case. The court also rejected a post-arrest bail plea of one of the accused, Muddasir.

The ATC referred the case to a district and sessions court to try the accused for the murder.
On Jan 2, the five Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel were taken into custody for indiscriminately gunning down 22-year-old Osama in the Sector G-10 area on Srignagar Highway within the jurisdiction of Ramna police station in the federal capital.
