The Green Bay Packers made history Thursday night as they defeated the Washington Commanders 27-18 to start the season 2-0 at Lambeau Field
This was their second win in five days over a team that had won 12 or more games last season.
Jordan Love led the way with 292 passing yards, including 214 in the first half — his best opening half yet. Tight end Tucker Kraft had a breakout game, hauling in six catches for 124 yards and a touchdown, his first career 100-yard performance. Running back Josh Jacobs continued his remarkable streak, scoring his 10th consecutive game with a rushing touchdown, joining elite company alongside LaDainian Tomlinson, Jonathan Taylor, and Priest Holmes.
Defensively, the Packers harassed Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels all night. They registered 12 quarterback hits, four sacks, and constant pressure, led by Micah Parsons, who drew double and even triple teams but still recorded a half-sack and three hits.

For Washington, it was a step back after last year’s NFC Championship run. The Commanders managed just 230 yards of total offense, with Daniels limited to 200 passing yards and only 17 rushing yards. The Packers’ defense kept him in check, forcing Washington to play catch-up most of the night. Injuries added to their woes, with Deatrich Wise Jr., Noah Brown, John Bates, and Austin Ekeler all leaving the game.
Washington’s defense also struggled, surrendering 406 yards and allowing eight plays of 15 yards or more. Their secondary was repeatedly exposed by motion and play-action, while kicker Matt Gay’s ongoing struggles from long range added to the concern.
The Packers improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2020, when they went on to win 13 games. They’ll visit the Cleveland Browns next on Sept. 21. The Commanders, now 1-1, return home to face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3, looking to reset after a disappointing showing under the national spotlight.
