Pakistan-Backed candidates clean sweep ACC board elections in Bangkok

For the first time in history, all three seats that were contested by candidates backed by Pakistan have won the ACC Board of Executive Directors seats after elections held at the Asian Cricket Council Annual General meeting in Bangkok.
A committee backed by Pakistan and PCB Chairman and now ACC President Mohsin Naqvi defeated a team that was supported by the Indian camp-headed by India’s VP of the BCCI Rajeev Shukla to mark the first all-win situation for the Pakistan-backed committee to secure directorial positions under ACC. Two factions had competed against each other to get access to the remaining three positions in the executive board on that occasion.
Pakistan-backed committee: Members who backed and were backed by the PCB represented by Mohsin Naqvi, committee members for the vacant posts were from the Maldives, Singapore, and Qatar. India-backed committee, supported and championed by the BCCI representative Rajeev Shukla competed against.
Significantly, since the formation of ACC in 1983 it is the first time, the Pakistan-backed committee have successfully run over their opponents to gain access to 3 directorial posts of the ACC’s board, in a game that saw Pakistan influence climb significantly within the scope of Asian cricket administration.
