Pakistan has freed most of Afghan Taliban leaders, says Sartaj

ISLAMABAD: PM’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz has said that most of the Afghan Taliban leaders detained in Pakistan have been freed and solution to Afghanistan Issue lies in negotiations not by means of military intervention – ARY News reports.

Addressing a seminar here on Saturday, he said that Pakistan is striving for the success of the ongoing reconciliation process in Afghanistan, while the understanding among the Pakistan’s civil and military leadership is also increasing on the Afghanistan Issue.

Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan will also be affected by instable Afghanistan.

Speaking about the elections there, he emphasized on the need of timely and transparent polls.

The Advisor on Foreign Affairs said that during the past few years economic development did occur in Afghanistan; however international aid will be required for its continuity.

Commenting on the education of the Afghan students, Sartaj told that some 2000 students are studying here on scholarships, while on the whole 30,000 Afghan masses are acquiring education in Pakistan.
