Pakistan keen to forge closer ties with France, EU: info minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has emphasized the need for extending ties between Pakistan and France in trade, culture, film and education.

Talking to Ambassador of France Marc Barety in Islamabad on Friday, he said Pakistan was keen to forge closer relations with France and the European Union in areas of mutual benefit for each other.

He said the government had envisaged to establish a media university by merging Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan academies to impart training and skills to media persons and engineers in both creative expressions and technical aspects.

The ambassador appreciated the idea of film and documentary making and said that France would look into all possibilities of cooperating with Pakistan in the field of film making.

Separately, while speaking at a reception hosted by the Spanish embassy to celebrate the National Day of Spain in Islamabad on Friday, the information minister said Pakistan looked forward to deepening its partnership with Spain for the achievement of its objectives of peace, prosperity and development.

He said the government would welcome investment of the EU countries in projects related to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Spain’s Ambassador to Pakistan Carlos Morales said Spain wanted to boost relations with Pakistan in the fields of trade and investment.
