Pakistan Qaumi Movement will be the name of MQM-PSP alliance, says Nabil Gabol

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Nabil Gabol on Wednesday said that the newly announced alliance of Muttahida Qaumi Movement- Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) will be named “Pakistan Qaumi Movement” and will be led by former military ruler General (retired) Pervez Musharraf, ARY News reported.

Speaking exclusively to ARY News, Gabol maintained that according to the information he has, the formation of this alliance is due to the efforts of Pervez Musharraf and the former military ruler has even persuaded the two parties to name the alliance as “Pakistan Qaumi Movement”.

“Just notice the timing of Pervez Musharraf’s statement, just 30 minutes before their (MQM, PSP) joint presser, this was planned as Musharraf’s inclusion will benefit the two parties,” Nabil Gabol claimed.

PSP leader Raza Haroon, however, did not comment upon Nabil Gabol’s claim by saying that he will not give importance to this news by commenting upon it.

It is pertinent to note here that another PPP leader Manzoor Wassan too had said that “someone from Dubai” will lead the MQM-PSP alliance long before the two parties announced the formation of an alliance.

Earlier in the day, rival parties Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) and Mutahidda Qaumi Movement- Pakistan (MQM-P) announced to form a political alliance and vowed to contest next general elections under “one banner, name, manifesto and electoral symbol.

Addressing a joint press conference at Karachi Press Club, MQM-P chief and PSP chief Mustafa Kamal announced the merger of the two parties who were once part of Altaf Hussain-led MQM.

“To solve problems of people of Karachi through collective efforts and to further our agenda of non-violence, we have decided to form a political alliance. We will decide the name and modalities of this alliance in future but one thing is for sure, we will contest next general elections under one name, one banner, one manifesto and one electoral symbol,” Farooq Sattar.

Sattar maintained that the modalities of this alliance will be crafted after meetings between the two parties.
