Pakistan rejects claim that Kashmir is integral part of India

This was said in a statement by Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria who said the Kashmir is an internationally recognised dispute and that the people of Indian-Occupied Kashmir have the right to decide their future.

He said that the founding fathers of India had agreed on the right to self-determination of the people of Kashmir but the successive government have oppressed them and resorted to massive atrocities and violations of human rights.

The response by the government was rather adverse and a violation of international human rights resolutions, humanitarians laws and the right to freedom of speech and expression, and those established under the conventions of the United Nations.

He said that people of Pakistan were deeply sorrowed by the situation in Kashmir which has left in the loss of life of several innocent people.

Zakaria said that the Muslim Conference had unanimously passed a resolution on 19th July 1947 which had demanded accession of Kashmir to Pakistan.

He said that India boast itself as a democracy but has suspended free movement and speech and restricted and even banned communication including television, mobile phones, internet and print and social media. Various parts of Indian-occupied Kashmir was under curfew causing huge inconvenience to the residents of the restive region.
