The research paper, produced through global collaboration, was successful in winning the International Conference on Advances in Artificial Intelligence and Computing (ICAAIC–2025) Best Paper Award.
An internationally collaborative research study on systems engineering of artificial intelligence has won the Best Paper Award at the First International Conference on Advances in Artificial Intelligence and Computing (ICAAIC-2025) held during the 3rd Global Research Congress (GRC-2025) of Sindh Madrasah-ut-Islam University (SMIU).
Architectural Patterns and Emerging Challenges (2019–2025)” was authored by Hamza Ali (NED University, Karachi), Douglas Sales Alves Amante (Federal University of Lavras, Brazil and University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy), Ubaidullah (Logical Services LLC, USA), and Dr. Imtiaz Hussain (SMIU).
The research was notable for its global collaboration, comprehensive analysis, and robust scientific examination of key AI engineering challenges such as trustworthiness, verification, data governance, and risks associated with generative AI.
ICAAIC-2025 was hosted under the theme “Ethical Computing and Artificial Intelligence for Social Good” and was attended by researchers from over ten countries. Over 30 peer-reviewed research papers on responsible AI and advanced computing systems were presented during the conference.
On the other hand, GRC–2025 brought together education experts, policymakers, industry representatives, and students on one platform. Sindh’s Minister for Universities and Boards, Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, praised SMIU for its academic progress and advised the university to formally share the key outcomes of the congress with the Sindh government. He also highlighted SMIU’s historic role as a cradle of learning inspired by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
University Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sehrai congratulated the researchers on winning the Best Paper Award and said that this award is a reflection of the university’s growing recognition in effective and ethical AI research at the global level. He said that GRC-2025 received more than 400 papers, out of which 228 were peer-reviewed research studies.
Dr. Imtiaz Hussain proudly received this award on behalf of the entire team from Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sehrai and Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ismail Rahu, which is being declared a source of pride for Pakistan’s AI community.
