Panama Papers Probe: Opposition offers withdrawal of two points

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar talking to media after the meeting of the parliamentary committee in Islamabad said that the opposition has withdrawn two points from its 15 questions.

People’s Party leader Aitzaz Ahsan said that the opposition has offered the government members about withdrawal of the name of the prime minister. PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi also confirmed the opposition’s offer. Aitzaz Ahsan also said that the agreements and differences exist at the same time between the two sides.

Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique welcomed the opposition’s offer.

The Committee, in its first meeting on Wednesday unanimously decided to examine and consider the Terms of Reference (ToRs) so that these may be finalized with consensus.

12-member parliamentary committee for a proposed inquiry commission to probe Panamagate scandal has unanimously had also decided not to appoint any chairperson of the committee to ensure impartiality at every level.

The government being represented in the committee by Ishaq Dar, Hasil Bizenjo, Khawaja Asif, Saad Rafique, Anusha Rehman and Akram Durrani, while opposition members include Aitzaz Ahsan, Muhammad Ali Saif, Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Sahibzada Tariq Ullah, and Tariq Bashir Cheema.
