ISLAMABAD: Calling the Panama Papers a sponsored conspiracy, senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader and Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Saturday vowed to contest the findings of Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT)’s report.

Talking to media persons in the federal capital, the federal minister said that his party would challenge the report in the Supreme Court of Pakistan by availing a constitutional protection.

Rafique claimed that Panama Papers is a sponsored conspiracy to cause political turmoil in the country and disrupt ongoing development projects. “Some elements do not want to see a powerful Pakistan,” he said.

He was of the opinion that various tactics have been used to create problems for the government to function aiming to initiate development schemes. “Rigging allegations, Dharna 1 and Dharna 2 were different methods adopted to create hurdles for the government to function,” Rafique added.

Expressing his concern, he said if this situation prevails till 2018, it would create problems for voters in the general elections. “It would have been better if political parties had focused on performance instead to get ahead,” he added.

Moreover, he said that the PML-N is ready to fight the legal and political war. However, he lamented that such war would benefit no one.

He refrained from expressing anything about proposed draft petition challenging the findings of JIT report.
