JUI-F Chief terms JIT controversial ahead of report submission

LAHORE: As the six-member Joint Investigation Team (JIT) tasked with investigating the money trail of Sharif family’s offshore properties is about to conclude the probe and submit a report, Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Saturday said that the probing team has become controversial.

He expressed these sentiments on his two-day visit to Lahore while talking to media persons.

Referring to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s allegations, Rehman said he did not feel a need to comment on it.

He urged the ruling party to disclose the conspirators involved in cooking up conspiracies against it as the party persistently contending that government’s development projects are being impeded by design.

Over the Panamagate case, the JUI-F restrained to comment as what he said the matter was in the Supreme Court despite declaring the probing team of becoming controversial.

Moreover, he opined that Imran Khan’s dissociation from the PTI would be in the party’s best interest.

Sirajul Haq demands JIT report to be made public 

On the flip side, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq demanded the JIT report on Sharif family’s offshore properties should be made public.

Addressing a press conference at his party’s head quarters, Haq alleged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of violating the constitution’s Article 62 and 63 after trying to act innocent while appearing before the probing team.

The JI chief said that he only demands transparency and accountability against corruption.
