KARACHI: Two recently held suspects of a Karachi based political party have confessed to have killed scores of people on the roads of the city on May 12, 2007, on the orders of their party leadership, official sources told ARY News.
Two days back, law enforcement agencies took Adnan Goshi and Wajid alias Wajih into their custody who made shocking revelations on Saturday that their party leadership had asked them to kill people in Karachi who came out to welcome then Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry.

“From Natha Khan Goth to airport, we killed at least 26 people in Karachi,” said the suspects and added, “In all, we killed 34 people that day,” when workers of political parties clashed with each other.
During interrogation, they told law enforcement officials that sector in-charge Irtaza Farooqi supervised target killings in Shah Faisal neighbourhood of the port city on May 12.
Farooqi, who even supplied weapons to the party workers on May 12, was later made a member of a provincial assembly, the suspects claimed.

Both Goshi and Wajih also admitted that they killed four members of the Awami National Party (ANP) in 2011 and created chaos in Karachi by burning vehicles in order to make party strike calls successful.
May 12, 2007, tragedy was one of the grimmest incidents in the history of Karachi when on the arrival of a recently suspended Iftikhar Chaudhry at least 40 people were killed and more than 90 wounded in armed clashes between workers of different political parties.
Karachi virtually became a battleground when clashes erupted between Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), ANP and then united Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers.
