PCEC route controversy: Strike in Quetta on ANP call

The shutterdown strike also being observed in scores of other cities and towns of Balochistan. The shops and business centres were also closed in Chaman, Pishin and other areas of the province.
Various political parties and traders bodies in the provincial capital have backed the shutter down call of the ANP.
Most of the shopping centres and markets remained closed in Quetta today.
Scant vehicular traffic was seen on roads of Quetta.
PCEC is the keystone project of the recently signed billions of dollars Chinese investment projects in Pakistan. The economic corridor will be built with huge Chinese investment from the Arabian sea port city of Gwadar in Balochistan to Kashgar in western Chinese province of Xinjiang.
The opposition political parties fearing a change of the route of the corridor could deprive the small provinces from the economic benefits of the Pak-China Economic Corridor.
