Petition filed against Nasir Hussain Shah for holding UAE work permit

KARACHI: The eligibility of outgoing Information Minister of Sindh Nasir Hussain Shah has been challenged in Sindh High Court (SHC) after a petition was filed against him for holding work permit of UAE.

Petitioner Muhammed Zubair Jatoi has contended in his petition that Nasir Hussain Shah declared himself to be associated with the profession of agriculture in his nomination papers for 2013 General Elections, whereas he has been holding a work permit of UAE since 2009 and been employed in a company of UAE.

The petition claims that Nasir Hussain Shah has lied in his nomination papers, thus he is no more honest and trustworthy (Saadiq aur Ameen) and should be disqualified from his position from 2013.

“He must not be allowed to take part in next General Elections. Moreover, all the privileges that Nasir Hussain Shah is entitled to as a provincial minister should be taken back,” the petitioner pleaded.

A two-member bench of the court will hear the petition.

After disqualification of PML-N bigwigs in the cases of holding international work permit, including former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and former foreign minister Khuwaja Asif, Nasir Hussain Shah is the first politician from Pakistan Peoples Party to be accused in the similar offense.
