LAHORE: A petition seeking ban on social media including Facebook across the country has been filed by Advocate Azhar Siddique in Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday.
The petition suggests that blasphemous content on social media is hurting emotions of Muslims.
It further states that the constitution of Pakistan, national and international laws bound social media users to honour and respect the prophets but despite the fact insulting and blasphemous content still exist on social media.
Earlier, the Islamabad High Court had directed government to remove all sacrilegious and blasphemous content from local social media platforms.
The petitioner, in this regard, has pleaded for ban on social media over violation of the court orders.
