LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Friday unearthed another hidden cold store in the surrounding areas of Gujranwala and seized more than 210,000 rotten eggs.
According to a statement released by PFA, the operation was carried out after six days of observation made by the authority’s vigilance cell.
The authority discarded all putrid eggs seized during the raid after bringing them at the dumping site in Lakhodair.
In the recently launched crackdown against rotten eggs, the food regulatory body has dumped more than 3 million rotten eggs after confiscating from various cities of Punjab including Lahore, Chichawatni, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura.
The DG PFA said that rotten eggs were preserved in the cold store to keep away from the eye of authority.
Punjab Food Minister Samiullah Chaudhry lauded the PFA team over the success of operation and said that no cold store across the province should be allowed to store rotten eggs.
He congratulated DG PFA Captain (R) Muhammad Usman and his entire team over the successful disposal of these eggs.
The minister maintained that the food ministry’s aim aim is to control the wicked practice and ensure the provision of quality eggs in the market.
The minister also urged the people of the province to report to PFA, if they see any such practice in their area.
