PHC summons federal finance, education training secretaries in contempt plea

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has summoned the federal secretary finance and the secretary federal education and professional training on next hearing in the contempt plea filed against them for non-compliance with court order, ARY News reported on Thursday.

The high court has issued a show cause notice against them and warned that in case of non-compliance with the court order, the court would issue a no-bailable warrant for them.

The contempt of court plea against the federal secretaries has been filed by officers of the Basic Education Community Schools. The petitioners said a regularization letter was issued in 2013, but it was not implemented.

“Despite the court order, the department was not implementing it,” they said.

The court has adjourned hearing till April 9.

On March 27, the high court had wrapped up the exorbitant fees’ case as Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) director ensured to adjust additionally charged amount received by students in different medical colleges.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Mr Ikramullah Khan and Justice Ms Mussarat Hilali had heard the case relating to extra fees charged by the medical colleges.

Earlier, the PHC had expressed anger over the administration of medical colleges for charging additional fees beyond the limits set up by the Supreme Court.
