PHC orders mandatory use of camera during anti-narcotics ops

PESHAWAR: In order to ensure transparency, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) has ordered the use of cameras during anti-narcotics operations, ARY News reported on Friday.

The decision comes as part of the government’s efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) ordered all the provincial institutions including Police, Excise, Narcotics, and Customs to implement the decision on an immediate basis.

The court has also directed the provincial government to release funds to the concerned departments to buy cameras.

Meanwhile, the court order made it mandatory to show the video of drug recovery in narcotics cases from April 15.

It is pertinent to mention here that in November 2022, the High Court notified all the stakeholders to use cameras during drug recovery operations.

Moreover, all District and Sessions Judges will hear the narcotic cases as per the high court judgement.
