GUJRANWALA: Renowned spiritual leader Pir Hameeduddin Sialvi on Sunday said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has been stepping back from his promise of removing Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.
Addressing Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Conference here at Sheranwala Gate, Pir Sialvi said Shahbaz Sharif had offered him the law minister’s resignation, but despite several extensions, the chief minister did not fulfill his promise.
Giving an ultimatum to Punjab government to fulfill its due promise till Dec 31, Sialvi said Shahbaz Sharif is to make a choice whether to tender his resignation or sack the provincial law minister over his remarks about the Ahmedi community.
On the occasion, he urged his disciples and supporters to not vote for the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) in the next general elections. “Promise me that you won’t vote for PML-N under any circumstances,” he said.
Earlier, Makhdoom Arshad Qamar Garwah, the PML-N Ulema and Mashaikh Wing president, announced that he was parting ways with the party.
The conference was attended by caretakers of various eminent shrines across the province, pledging support to Pir of Sial Sharif and his campaign.
Earlier this month on Dec 10, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) suffered a major blow after five lawmakers, three MPAs and two MNAsm submitted their resignations to Pir Sialvi. The resignations were announced during Khatm-e-Nabuwwat conference at Dhobi Ghat ground in Faisalabad.
In his brief address to participants of the conference, Pir Sialvi said he was not a political person and the agenda of calling this conference solely revolved around finality of prophethood (Khatm-e-Nabuwwat).
“As firm believers of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat, we [are] gathered here with no intention to solicit support for elections or a political agenda,” Sialvi said.
He said the country was achieved in the name of Islam but ‘Law of Shariah’ (Nizam-e-Mustafa) has been set aside.
