ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam has appealed for active participation in national cleanliness campaign.
The adviser, in a statement, said the campaign is a movement to make Pakistan clean and green through changing people’s mindsets and behaviours.
He said that through this drive they will focus on five key areas which include tree plantation, solid and water waste management, building new toilets especially in remote areas, sanitation and hygiene.
He said that environment is the foremost priority agenda of the government and is been rigorously pursued since day one.
He said that unfortunately Pakistan is amongst those top seven countries which are badly affected by climate change, and the agriculture sector is facing the adverse effects as growing seasons have also shifted.
He further said that people residing in Islamabad are also facing water scarcity issues. Therefore, the government would launch a pilot project of water storage in the federal capital, which would be the first project in the Recharge Pakistan’ drive and will further expand it to the national level.
