PM announces health card scheme for districts of Sindh

THATTA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced health card scheme for districts of Sindh including Thatta, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan, aimed at providing free medical treatment to the poor, ARY News reported.

Addressing a public gathering in Thatta, PM Sharif expressed his displeasure with the Sindh government for its stance against health cards.

“We initiated the health card scheme which is the need of the hour but I’m disappointed to know that the provincial government refused to play its part,” he said.

He also made an announcement to establish a 500-bed hospital in Thatta.

Alongside announcement for different uplift projects in rural Sindh, he said the government would soon provide gas to districts of Thatta and Sajawal.

He said federal government was committed to bring reforms in Sindh. Mr. Sharif said the grievances of the people of Thatta and Sajawal will be addressed.

The PM also announced Rs 500 million for Gharo and Keti Bandar projects.

Underlining the improvement in power sector, the prime minister urged the masses to regularly pay their electricity bills so that the power sector could flourish and grow.

Earlier, in his welcome address, PML-N leader Shafqat Shah said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N government was engaged in efforts for the development and prosperity of the country.

He said the people of Thatta and Sajawal were facing hardships due to lack of infrastructure and poor health facilities. He said people of area want the same development as in Punjab.
