ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will preside over the meeting of South Punjab Executive Council (SPEC) on Monday (today), ARY News reported.
The prime minister has called the meeting of the council on a request from the members of the body.
Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar and members of the federal committee on South Punjab province will attend the meeting, sources said.
According to sources, the council will present its recommendations for an adhoc secretariat of the proposed South Punjab province. The majority of members of the executive council want a temporary secretariat for the province in Bahawalpur, sources further said.
The majority of members also want Bahawalpur as the capital city of the proposed province, according to sources.
The government intends to establish a secretariat of the province initially before formation of the new province, sources added.
The prime minister will take a final decision over the issue after reviewing the recommendations of the council, sources added.
