PMDC cancels registration of two doctors over negligence

ISLAMABAD: Taking strict action against doctors’ negligence, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) here on Monday cancelled registration of two doctors over wrong postmortem report, ARY News reported.

PMDC spokes person said that the body took this action during its 194 meeting held in Islamabad today. He told the journalists that the body also approved disciplinary action against 10 other doctors over their alleged irresponsibility and negligence.

 The spokesperson said, ” PMDC directed the concerned authorities to take action against the doctors  under the criminal act.”

He further said, ” The body has served show show-cause notices on four doctors over complaints of negligence and issued warning letters to 10 hospitals over administrative irresponsibility.”

The meeting also decided to cancel the approval or Rawal Medical College over its failure to meet the standards set by the PMDC, he added.

Earlier in the day, after battling for her life for past eight days, nine-month-old Nishwa breathed her last on Monday morning at Liaquat National Hospital in Karachi.

The medical case of the minor girl came into light on April 14, when she was reportedly administered a wrong injection by the staff of Darul Sehat Hospital, which resulted the paralysis of Nishwa.

The paralysed girl was later admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Liaquat National Hospital for treatment, where she died today.
