ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has finally decided not to field any candidate against estranged party leader and former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, sources told ARY News on Saturday.
According to sources, PML-N’s leadership, after the estranged leader’s Friday presser, has finally arrived on the decision that party will not field its candidate against Chaudhry Nisar, who is contesting polls as an independent candidate.
Sources, however, added that the party is yet to decide upon constituencies where it will not field a candidate against the disgruntled leader.
It is pertinent to note here that Nisar has submitted his nomination papers as an independent candidate for four seats – two National Assembly and two Punjab Assembly seats.
The nomination papers were submitted with the Election Commission of Pakistan Rawalpindi office for NA-59 (Rawalpindi), NA 63 (Taxila) and Punjab Assembly’s PP-10 and PP-12.
After the former interior minister’s speech in Chakri town on June 20, PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah had said that his party should field candidate against Nisar.

Nisar had heavily criticised PML-N’s lifelong leader Nawaz Sharif during the speech.
The PML-N announced issuance of party tickets to a number of candidates including Maryam Nawaz, Hamza Shahbaz, Khawaja Saad Rafique and Khurram Dastgir Khan and is yet to announce more ticket holders but so far none has been awarded ticket of the same constituency as Nisar.
Analysts have termed PML-N’s move ‘a wise one’ as fielding a candidate against a founding member like Nisar will divide the party vote and in turn can favour the rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates.
