Police thwart terror plot in Attock, seize explosives from vehicle

ATTOCK: Punjab Police prevented a major terrorist attempt in Attock city of Punjab by seizing an explosive-laden vehicle and arresting the motorist from G.T Road, ARY News reported on Friday.

The vehicle was coming from Peshawar via G.T Road when the police personnel intercepted it on suspicion during a routine snap checking, police officials said.

The motorist has been identified as Adil hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), police said.

Police claimed to have recovered 23 kilogrammes of explosive, 500 detonators, 1000 metres of safety wires and stacks of ball bearings.

On Oct 30, KP police had claimed to have seized arms and ammunition from a vehicle on G.T Road again while arresting two suspects.

Police officials said they intercepted a vehicle on G.T Road and seized 30-bore pistols and five thousand cartridges from the vehicle. The suspects were taken into custody and further interrogation with regard to their possible involvement in heinous crimes is underway, the officials added.
