Pope wears Sindhi Ajrak gifted by a Pakistani

A Pakistani man recently presented Sindhi Ajrak to Pope Francis as an Easter gift and he happily accepted the present and wore it.

According to reports, Daniyal, a member of Jesus Youth of St. Paul’s Parish Mehmoodabad Archdiocese Karachi, was in Vatican to attend the central ceremony of Easter, a Christian holiday.

While presenting the gift, the man also took a selfie with Pope and posted on the social media.

Reports say the man snapped the picture in March, however it didn’t come to notice. It started to get viral in last week and was shared by scores of users on the social media, mainly from Pakistan.

Meanwhile, in his address on the occasion of Easter, Pope used strong language to call for peace in parts of the world torn by war and conflict, including Syria, the Israel-Gaza border and countries in Africa.

Amid heavy security, tens of thousands gathered in St. Peter’s Square to celebrate Mass and to hear the pope’s “Urbi et Orbi” message (“to the city and the world”).

Francis, 81, who two weeks ago celebrated his fifth anniversary as pope, used his homily to lament deaths of 15 Palestinians in Gaza, where he said the violence is causing “wounds of conflict that do not spare the defenseless.”

He also called for an end to Syria’s civil war and urged the warring parties to allow humanitarian aid to be delivered there. And he urged an end to the violence in South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
