NAWABSHAH: A ceasefire has been reached between the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) following a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and a government delegation, ARY News reported, citing well-informed sources.
According to the details, after meeting President Zardari, the government delegation departed from Zardari House for the airport, carrying a message from the President for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The delegation comprised Ayaz Sadiq, Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who discussed recent political tensions between the two coalition partners.
Sources further stated that following the ceasefire, the leadership of both parties instructed their members to refrain from issuing further public statements. Reportedly, Mohsin Naqvi played a key role in mediating the truce between the two sides.
During the meeting, President Asif Ali Zardari expressed reservations over recent remarks made by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, which he said had hurt the sentiments of PPP leaders and the people of Sindh.

President Zardari emphasized that the PPP and PML-N are key coalition partners, while PML-N representatives expressed regret over the statements that had offended Sindh’s leadership and public sentiment.
It is worth noting that in recent days, the two parties had engaged in a war of words over issues such as compensation for flood victims and water rights in the Cholistan Canal project.
The Sindh-based PPP leadership, in particular, had expressed anger over Maryam Nawaz’s remarks, despite the fact that her party, PML-N, is also leading the federal government.
