QINGDAO: In a session of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation(SCO) Summit at Qingdao on Sunday, President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain remarked that he is hopeful that the general election 2018 will bring more economic stability in Pakistan.
“Democracy and democratic institutions in Pakistan have strengthened,” Hussain stated while adding that the upcoming general elections in Pakistan is significant for the whole region.
President Mamnoon asserted that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has further bolstered Pakistan’s economy.
With regards to Pakistan’s relationship with Afghanistan, he said that peace and stability in Afghanistan is our shared objective and Pakistan and Afghanistan are working on a comprehensive strategy on a bilateral basis to establish peace in Afghanistan.
“We appreciate the ceasefire offer of Afghanistan’s president to Taliban and consider it as a positive sign,” he added.

In his address, Mamnoon Hussain suggested that the platform of SCO Summit should be utilized to eradicate poverty, moreover, an institution for development funds should be established to fight against terrorism and extremism.
Mamnoon Hussain also applauded the efforts of Chinese government and the people of China for successfully conducting SCO Summit.
He was addressing the summit in Urdu language.
The president is on an official visit to China to attend the 18th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states.
Mamnoon Hussain meets Tajik counterpart
President Mamnoon Hussain on Saturday met his counterpart Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan on the sidelines of the Qingdao Summit.
Both leaders held indepth consultations on matters of mutual interest. They reviewed progress in bilateral relations, expressed satisfaction on close fraternal relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening ties between the two brotherly nations.
They noted the bilateral economic potential between Pakistan and Tajikistan and agreed to make joint efforts to substantially increase bilateral trade.
The two leaders also examined the prospects of cooperation in areas of trade and economy, investment, culture, education, science and technology, defence and people-to-people contacts.
