Prince Harry made a rare solo appearance in Washington, D.C., stepping into the spotlight just weeks before his father King Charles is set to arrive in the United States for an official state visit.
The Duke of Sussex, 41, appeared on March 31 at the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Global Summit, one of the world’s largest gatherings focused on privacy, artificial intelligence and online safety.
Taking part in a keynote conversation, Harry addressed an audience of global experts and professionals working in digital responsibility and cybersecurity.
Photos from the event showed Harry waving to attendees and engaging in discussion on stage, marking a notable East Coast appearance for the royal, who now resides in California with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Prince Harry’s appearance underscores a cause he and Meghan have increasingly championed in recent years. Since stepping back from their roles as senior working royals in 2020, the couple have focused much of their philanthropic work on online safety and digital well-being.
Just last week, they issued a statement praising a landmark legal verdict involving major tech platforms, signaling their continued advocacy in the space.
The father of two’s outing comes on the same day Buckingham Palace formally confirmed that King Charles III and Queen Camilla will travel to the U.S. later this month. The royal visit, scheduled for April 27 to April 30, will mark Charles’ first state visit to the country as monarch.
