KARACHI: The prison administration on Tuesday informed the Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) here that the production of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) alleged target killer Raees alias Mama before the court is perilous.
The Superintendent of Karachi Jail submitted a letter about not producing the accused before the ATC for hearing. The letter further stated that “Raees Mama has been a high profile MQM hitman and his movement from prison to the court could be highly dangerous”.
Another letter, seeking the transfer of hearing of cases against the accused within the jail, has been sent to the home department of Sindh. However, their response is awaited, prison officials said.
Accused Raees Mama has been booked in the cases of attack on policemen in Chakra Goth and target killing of police officials and more than six other cases.
According to investigation officials, the accused has confessed of killing 59 people during the interrogation.
Raees has also admitted to being involved in kidnapping for ransom, China cutting, land grabbing, extortion and other crimes of serious nature in the city.
