With provinces on board, next level of NAP to begin from August 23

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif made the announcement following the inauguration of a recently built 17,000-tonne Pakistan Navy Warship fleet tanker at Karachi Shipyard on Friday.

Reiterating government’s will to eliminate terrorism from the country, he said it was important that the provincial governments also give their input in the ongoing war against terrorism and so the centre would want their support before we enter into the next level of NAP.

In the aftermath of the Army Public School, Peshawar attack in 2014, the government started NAP in the country after all key political parties nodded in agreement to have such a plan that could deal with terrorism without losing precious lives.

Prime Minister Nawaz said almost all provinces have been badly hit by terror attacks and that his government was committed to support and cooperation to provinces on all fronts.

Several rounds of crucial meetings between Pakistan’s top civilian and military leadership held recently in Islamabad in which 29 new civil-military wings were announced.

A NAP implementation committee was also formed led by General (R) Janjua to ensure full implementation of the plan.

Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah also met the prime minister at Governor House Karachi and discussed matters related to Karachi Operation.

Prime Minister Nawaz also said that the law and order situation was better in Karachi and lauded the performance of Sindh Rangers and police for restoring peace in the city.
